USR5461 Drops WAN Connection

said by etompkins :
5461 Drops WAN Whenever Config Changes

I searched and didn't see this topic, so, hopefully, this isn't rehashing an old issue.

I just installed a new 5461, and it runs very well, with one small hiccup. Whenever I make any configuration change (doesn't matter what), as soon as I press "Save", the router drops the connection to the modem, and doesn't recover on its own. Neither reboots,power-cycling, or hard-resets have any effect.

My work-around is to reset to factory settings, then restore the saved configuration. This always works - as soon as the router reboots after the restore, everything is fine.

Has anyone had a similar problem? Is their a permanent fix (rather than a work-around?) My work-around is fairly quick and easy, but still, I'd like the router to work as expected.

Thanks!
I have this exact same problem although I haven't tried the work-around yet.

I expect routers to simply work when I buy them and don't have the time or patients for this type of crap. I did update the Firmware (to 3.93.35.0.6) and that didnt fix this issue.

I am using a motorola SB5100 cable modem with comcast. FYI.

Did you try release/renew from the Status page of the router? What happens when you renew IP?

Did you try to reset the cable modem?
