| | | Re: 24...hours... Exactly. Why would I ever pay for something I can only watch for a 24 hour period? I mean, if they let me burn it to a DVD, or even a blue-ray drive, etc, sure, I may pay 3.00 for a movie. But the fact that a blank blu-ray disc is 20.00, would drive the cost of a movie for me to download to 23.00. Now THAT's just insane. -- Stick it to the MAN. Support your local torrent sites. +$700 for the CHEAPEST BR writer on the market.
that's $3 for the video(at 720P not 1080P) $15 for a disk (»www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a···17172023) and $700 for the device to write the movie to the disk plus the cost of the player $800 - $1000 and the tv to display it $2000 - $3000, and the HDMI cables required by the players $100(monster cable). OR about $23 retail for the movie $800 - $1000 for the player and around $2000 - $3000 for the tv that will display it and $100 for cables. OR rent it for 24 hours at $3 at the same quality, not burn it off, and when you feel like watching it again outside of the 24 hours pay another $3.
I'd rather spend the $3/24 then the stupid amounts of money to get anything bluray/HDCP compliant.

And that is the gist of the problem. The HDCP should be made ILLEGAL. The only reason that crap passed is because the MPAA bought off congress. There is no technical benefit in any way/manner/form for HDCP to exist. It is a product of the corruption and ownership of our government. The time to take action is NOW, and not support those standards. The solution is to buy equipment that is illegal under the DMCA. The solution is to rip your Blu-ray disks, and post them on torrent sites. The solution is to engage in civil misconduct, and support piracy in all it's facets, to show THE MAN that we won't be pushed around anymore. It's high time we all rise up (most of us already do, by using torrent and P2P sites), and strike a blow for CONSUMER RIGHTS. -- Stick it to the MAN. Support your local torrent sites. $10,000 to play it to it's fullest + upgrade costs over the years
or $3 to watch it a couple times, get your amusement out of it, and go on your way.
i have limited living space to contend with, and when i do move from where i am, top priority is not moving a ginormus hard media collection.
it's like porn, you can watch the same vid a couple times, but no matter how much you like it, it gets boring.
| | | | | | | Re: 24...hours... I don't understand some people.
Why do you need more than 24hrs? Are you planning to view the movie more than once? Do you want to show the movie off to friends that are coming 3 days later? If that's the case, don't play the movie and you'll have two weeks to watch it.
