Verify My Connection On My Own

How can I check what service I really do have without asking Adelphia? ie: I am supposed to have 6M/768K and I want to verify it without asking Adelphia. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply but I mean "exact" literal connection. I am supposed to have 6M/768K but I want to check it on my own. I get far far far less than those figures so I want to make sure. Thanks.

What modem do you have? Some modems let you see the provisioned speeds in the diagnostic pages »192.168.100.1 .These are two,I know show the provisioned speeds.Linksys BEFCMU10v4 and D-Link DCM-202 .

Your modem is provisioned for 4000/384.

Call support if you should be on Premiere 6000/768.

Beyond that your downstream SNR sucks and your modem is receiving errors on the downstream channel. For sure, this is causing some packet loss and slower speeds. You need a service call.

That's not what Mac said at all. He said your modem SIGNALS sucked, not the modem. He also said that you are incorrectly provisioned and to CALL IN to get it re-provisioned.

Oh, Ok. I am not familiar with cable connections in the least. They were supposed to be open today until 1 but they were closed. I will try and fix it Monday. Thanks.

Just call 888-683-1000 it's open 24/7.

They should be able to fix the provisioning so it's 6000/768 and schedule a service call so a tech can check your signals and cabling.

I took a guess at what they would say and I was correct. "Um? why do you think you don't have premiere service?" I said "I had someone check it and was told it was only 4M/384K and not 6M/768K". They said "Only an Adelphia HSI service tech can identify the connection. It cannot be checked by an outside source." Then they said nothing more. I said "Ok now what?" They said "now what what"? My BP went up a little at this point but I stayed even. I said "Someone needs to change my connection speed to premiere because that's the HSI service for which I pay. I also need an HSI technician to come to my residence and check to make sure all is well with the equipment involved; Please"..... Someone is coming out Tuesday (I hope) to check whatever they will check. Later.

Provisioning is done from the office. They don't need to come out if they know you are provisioned incorrectly.

According to some people here I have other issues that need to be checked by a tech. But now I know they can accomplish that aspect by phone. Thanks.

Edit: I mean that they can do the provisioning by phone. Thanks.

You said you were paying for the Premier service....The file your modem has is not that.

I am paying for premiere; which at the time was 6M/768K. I have had this service since Oct 2005. Noone anywhere around here gets even close to their supposed speed so I really didn't think about it. If I really have 4M/384K then there is a problem. I am about to call them again. Thanks.
