Doesn't surprsie me!

I believe many companies do this sort of thing when they are able. My parents switched from DirecTV to, at the time, Adelphia cable (now Time Warner). The installer that came out not only cut the cable off of their dish and the receiver end he also went into the basement, removed about 25' of cable and took it with him. Guess he didn't want to leave a mess or something. It wasn't a cheap generic cable either. If memory serves I paid about $35.00 for that cable when I initially hooked up the DirecTV. Could have been more. While cutting the cable from the dish he also thought it would be a good idea to loosen the bolts so that it would have to be repointed if they ever decided to go back.

It was your bought cable, and you let him take it?

Or you if were not present, you didn't call and raise 35 different kinds of hell?
A tech knows full well cheap cable to expensive cable ....... sounds like he needed 25' of nice cable in HIS house - at your cost.
