Why not?
Xbox 360 is a mature console. Manufacturing costs are probably low enough now for M$ to drop the retail price.
They'd be smart to bundle a free game with it too; would make bad memories of non-available PS3s fade faster IMHO. -- Life is a journey; death is a given.

I agree with the free game. Someone at M$ Marketing should realize that a free game is a win-win, especially for parents. Even if they have to up the price by $25. It is a pain to buy a game separately after kicking out $300+ just on the console. It doesnt have to be a M$ Gold tier game like Halo, but maybe a mid-tier game title. Anything that can be played asap when opening the box.
reply to Boomer86 A "Gears of War" holiday bundle would be nice especially at the $299.00 pricepoint, but I doubt that that would happen. -- An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last. - Sir Winston Churchill
reply to Mrq5 That's what the free 30-day Xbox live trial is for. Loads of playable demos that one can download (granted you need broadband to take advantage).
