 | It's not a DVR... Why is this being called a "Half-Hearted DVR?"
A DVR implies "Recorder." The end user doesn't tell it to record anything.
The end user can only tell shows they are watching to "start over" and only within the hour (half-hour?) that it is showing.
So the only thing this is useful for is if you miss the beginning of a show.
To people that don't have a DVR, not being able to fast forward commercials is something they won't even miss. They just know that they were able to not miss the first 15 minutes of a show because they got home late, or forgot it was on.
If you have a DVR or want a DVR, you probably realize that you can set it up to record your favorite shows or anything else, and won't need to start over very often. |

Funny, usually I purposefully miss the first 15 minutes of a show (usually 20 minutes now). And then by skipping the commercials I can finsh the show at it's normal ending time. That's only if I really want to see it near-realtime (which is rare). Usually they'll sit around on the DVR or my MythTV box for a few days until I get around to watching them. |
