We get 3/350 in my area, Vista, North San Diego County. After the Adelphia to TW/RR changeover. RoadRunner says 'they only have 4/384 in my area'. 'The Area Speeds are fixed'. Period.
The other cable services have cut areas out for Cox Cable. The other areas were only for Adelphia (now TW/RR). DSL is not available in my area.
The politicians made each area divided and only 1 cable company can do business in each agreed area.
So thy can decide the speeds and services, and that is that. period. -- My Sig: Disabled Veteran. As you have been told on many occasions, once the dust has settled on the Adelphia Migration the areas will be bought into line with standard RR speeds.
There is no reason why You could not go out and start up a cable company in your area to compete with TWC. Just a clue...its very expensive to start one and as many have discovered even harder to take away established customers. good luck with it though.

The politicians didn't do it (if fact they just voted in a bill to do the exact opposite, lookup AB 2987), economics did it.
Cable over-builders have found it VERY expensive, with long odds and timelines on positive investment returns. Just lookup Altrio, GTE/Americast/Verizon Worldwind, AT&T Broadband, WinFirst, and a slew of others who've tried and failed or gave up... and that's just in Southern California... -- 117+ RF channels of mixed video and data bouncing down fiber and coax for miles and you expect it to work right the first time, all the time? Do you realize how complicated this actually is??? |

 | reply to hobgoblin In Vista, (formally Adelphia) you guy were receiving those download speeds for a reason.Adelphia;s platform was never upgraded. We are in that area laying fiber as we speak(or you complain) I work for the TW San Diego Div. and you will be receiving the same speeds as San Diego,Palm Springs, and Beaumont.Do you actually think you're speed was going to change overnight? Look at you're TV,you're channels are still the same w/ Adelphia. We finished laying fiber in Del Mar,Escondido, and Solana Beach.I guarantee you by Jan. 07 you will have been switched the TW System. Also well be launching the phone in you're area once the upgrade is completed. |
