Somebody Call A Waaaambulance

Oh dear, life is certainly very tough for these people...it must be absolutely horrifying to show up at the airport or StarSchmucks, pay the six bucks for the thimblefull of swill and then (gasp!) not have an open power outlet available. Oh the horror!

The laptop freaks and the non-stop cell phone yakkers should get together and beat each other over the head with their equipment. It might make them realize that death won't result if they go a whole hour or two without being plugged into the Internet OR a cell phone.

Some people require this connectivity. It's not like everyone with a laptop at the airport is logging on to see what kind of news is on DSLR's front page. People have servers to monitor, company bulletins to check, customers to correspond with before taking off, etc. Technology's not just a toy for these people, but a necessity. I realize it's not the case with everyone, but it is necessary for many.

Re: Somebody Call A Waaaambulance

Has it not occurred to you that they may also be getting on the plane because they have to for business? Some people are very busy. I don't see people complaining about it, I see a news article about a shortage. Others have come up with ways around the shortage of plugs and improvised. If you're willing to respond in a manner that doesn't make me feel like I'm in middle school again, I'll be happy to respond.

Sounds like a way to generate billable hours for some personal injury scumbag.

Those who complain the loudest about their loss of rights under the Patriot Act seem to be the first ones to try to take away others rights under the Second Amendment.

Sounds like a way for some non-personal injury scumbag to get rich by suing for personal injury.

Yea I think there are a few folks who think this is just a bunch of geeks whining about not having the stuff they "deserve" to have, which is BS. I think many of us are talking business travel here. When I fly personally I don't always have a laptop with me and wouldn't care. But for all my business travel you better believe it is there and running, and I have to keep up on what's going on at work, handle issues etc.

A colleague of mine still has something like 15,000 miles left to go this year....

Or maybe to check the airline websites to find out why their plane is delayed. Often you can get better and more accurate information from the websites than from the person at the counter.
