Re: Yahoo! - Anyone having problems getting to it?

But even with insano routing, it doesn't connect.

No worries! I'm bouncing off of Embarq right now! Yahoo opens fine!
Are you using same DNS for Embarq?

if not ipconfig /flushdns and try it via Comcast again.

www.yahoo.com opens fine for me, but I'm not in CA.

My Wife still uses it as well.
I also use it for Dial up when traveling if I cannot get wireless or internet in a hotel. (And in cases where I cannot reach a site via my ISP. Sound familiar?)

Okay, the not gettng to Yahoo thing was weird after I changed my DNS so I tried something and it worked, I updated my DNS to the 4.2.2.1, 2, 3 and then I cleared them out, re-set them to 0.0.0.0 and then re-booted the modem and the router and I can now get on yahoo and my sites. No sure if that did anything or comcast fixed it at the same time, but it worked.

I use »www.opendns.org

you can also just do a start->run-> cmd /k ipconfig /flushdns (copy and paste the bold)

Oh for the love of god, everything works as soon as I check back in on this thread, not 5 minutes later...

Nice to know I can still hit DSLR when my internet is funky =)

Interesting. Someone mailed NANOG about this very thing, but didn't bother stating it affected Yahoo!.

The NANOG thread, which has some comments/insight to what the problem might have been:

As a side note: Yahoo is in the process of upgrading some servers and some infrastructure. The beta Mail service will be going live soon.

Since October 26, 2006 Yahoo has been implementing new protocols throughout all of Yahoo. Normally they do small changes not overall. The login protocols have been changed again and slowly but surely the bugs are being worked out. They seem to be cracking down on security finally so many times its has been inaccessable although they havent admitted this. (yet). Most times if you wait it out things resolve in a matter of hours over there.
