My View
Here is a view out my back door. My county's density is roughly 24 people per sq mile. I have Sprint EVDO. Sprint is the *only* carrier that serves my area. Nobody else even offers so much as analog service. My commute is 50+ miles through country like what you see in the picture. I have an EVDO signal 100% of the way.

Wow, I'm surprised EVDO is in your area!

I live in a somewhat similar situation...though there are no mountains in my area, and the population per square mile is 4 times as high.

Anyway, what kind of uploads and downloads do you get? What about latency?

If EVDO Rev. A really is deployed near nationwide, then rural people can FINALLY stop complaining (hopefully).

I only have a Rev0 card, but I get ~1mbps down and about 120kbps up. Latency is around 150ms. I'm about 3 miles away from two towers (NLOS). I have an external Wilson trucker antenna that gets me an EVDO signal of -65dBm.

Wow, I could deal with that; I might not be able to game or use VoIP until Rev 0 was deployed nationally, but 1 meg down and 120Kbs up is not bad at all.

I take it that there are no other options for you to get broadband, but EVDO and satellite?

Also, where is your EVDO card located? Router? PCMCIA Adapter on your PC?
