If you read your agreement with the cable company, setup of servers is not allowed. What's more, is that if you had a server, you would want the same, static IP address all the time. How do you do this with DHCP?
There are plenty of outlets that will host your server for far less than the cost of a Cable connection.

High upload speed doesn't necessarily mean running a server.
Protools sessions for school can go to about 850 MBs, with 512 kbps upload it'd take three hours to send the thing to someone. With my current upstream speed it would take me 13 minutes tops.
