No, but then again you are at the mercy of the laws of physics there and if you are in an area where your only choice is either dialup or satellite, I think most wouldn't care too much about the latency and go with satellite merely for the speed alone. I know that would be the case for me anyhow.

I actually had the chance to experience a satellite net connection this past year on one of my vacations to a small resort way down in the boonies part of SE Ohio. The office had free wifi hooked up to I BELIEVE a Wildblue connection. Didn't know the speed, I just knew it was a satellite based connection. Albeit I only used it to check email and a few websites during my stay, I didn't notice much of a difference from a standard cable or dsl connection to be totally honest.
