This suggested legislation is not just about medical info, which HIPAA addresses, but about all personal info collected.
But I do think that a law passed to ensure data privacy is more about the rights of the companies collecting the info then about preventing dissemination of private info to outsiders.
When a company gets your info, which you almost always must give to buy their product or service, they usually include waivers allowing them to share your info with just about anyone they feel like. And I doubt any laws that this group supports would end that right. -- -- My BLOG My Web Page |
