I don't remember if it only works on the WAN port (and am traveling so can't check), but if the gizmo is behind a NAT and the logging PC is behind the same NAT, then that is "remote" logging and you should be fine. If you don't have a real syslog server, then just run Wireshark (formerly Ethereal), start a capture, and the syslog packets will appear in the trace.
