ESPN.COM blocked by Metrocast????
This is really strange. For the past four or five days I have been absolutely unable to connect to »espn.go.com if I try to connect through my home computer. (Metrocast). Any place else and I connect just fine. If I search for ESPN.COM through Google, I'm able to connect just fine as long as I don't try and go directly to the home page (I can see the homepage fine if I go through a link inside the website).
I went and did a tracert to see where the hold-up was, and for a while the trace kept getting hung up at 184.108.40.206 which turns out to be in Redmond, Washington. Lately, however, the trace gets hungup as soon as the signal leaves my internal network. What is going on? This type of issue NEVER happened with Eastern Connecticut Cable and I guess that's why I'm having so much trouble figuring out why it's happening now with Metrocast. Dumping the cable service and going to DSL is sounding like a GREAT idea at this time and it won't take too much convincing for me to do this.
New London, CT
Loaded right up for me. No problems at all.
Hmmmm.... This is just driving me crazy. I have no viruses on my system and nothing that would be blocking the site. I just can't figure out why this one site, which was my homepage for a while, is no longer available.
Okay, well this is strange. I went into my hosts file to ensure that espn.go.com wasn't in there, and sure enough it was. That site was in there as well as a boatload of other sites. I guess when I updated my computer recently the hosts file had my homepage added to it somehow.
I hereby recind all my vicious remarks about Metrocast......... aside from their e-mail service.
