Re: Got to hand it to them... said by Alpine:They're really busting their butts to get it out to the eleven markets by year-end. It's pretty surprising considering that the last two weeks of the year are usually pretty worthless for many companies. If they can roll out this quickly they'll be able to hit the original target of fifteen by January. Adam And just imagine.. if they were rolling out FTTH like Verizon is doing how fast they could upgrade our entire country! -- YourIP.US - Quickly Locate Your IP! |

Re: Got to hand it to them... So True, Fiber would be a better alternative. I am assuming ATT does not want to pay for re-engineering a new fiber system and is looking for the cheapest way out which would be upgrade copper facilities and deploy new modems to the home. Typical of a company who still thinks they own the country, I would think if it was still SBC and the merger never happened they would have follow suite along with Verizon and deploy Fiber. But today it's all about the money and when these execs find out their 5 digit bonus's are on the line they will do what ever it takes to keep that promise for them selves and screw the customer. Lot's of companies have bit the bullet to upgrade because they know fiber is the way to go not only for saving money on the maintenance side but when a newer and faster technology comes out it will be easier to deploy. Since ATT has been out of the Copper world for some time it will take a good year or so for them to realize fiber was the way to go. And what I mean by that is ATT has been a LD provider for years everything that passes through them is Fiber but the merger of SBC and ATT assuming the idiots of ATT are now running the asylum means that once they look at all the OT from copper repairs or upgrades that will be needed in order to keep stability running the new services only then they might think they were wrong but will never admit it until they decide to deploy fiber but only then it will be too late. Jeez I am ranting again. |
