Question

One of my close friends recently broke up with her boyfriend. He has been threatening to post nude photos of her on the web that he has from their 2 year relationship. What laws or acts make this legal or illegal?

Read up on the Jessica Cutler litigation.

My recollection of the Pamela Anderson litigation is that the case was dismissed because by that time the materials were so far distributed on the web there was nothing a court could do to stop it.

The laws which would apply would be the privacy and or libel laws of the State in which the parties reside.

I think the statement "Never take any pictures you wouldn't want on the Net" rings true.

Maybe defamation(libel) or pandering could get him a room with Bubba, or subject to a civil judgment.

Why don't you and a few of your Buds go and have a word with him and explain why doing that would be a very bad idea ...
