Re: [POLL] 2007 Wireless Service Provider

Thanks for the poll, Quip.
No real surprises here, though.

Still with Cingular.
No problems what so ever.

After years without a cell, I went with T-mobile three years ago. Reading and hearing reviews of Verizon, I switched a year later. I've been happy ever since. Even took my cell phone to Mexico and found the signal quality excellent. I just got from Puerto Vallarta and used the phone there with no issues either. Of course, my bill will look might pretty since I was roaming .

I've had Verizon Wireless since 2001. In my book, Verizon Wireless' Quality of Service, Reliability, and Customer Service... all get a 10!

Sprint here, over 6 years now. Recently changed to SERO though.

1250 anytime minutes
Unlimited N&W at 7pm
Unlimited Internet
Unlimited Roaming
Unlimited Mobile 2 Mobile
Unlimited Text (SMS)

Total = $49.99 + tax.

Over the past year I started experiencing more dropped calls, but I found out it was my phone, not the service. I had the Treo 700wx and I loved it as a PDA, but the phone part sucked. I now have a Moto Q and have been very happy with it.

Sprint has dead spots just like any other carrier, its just a matter of where you are. I sometimes put my phone on Roam Only if I know I'm in an area with a weak Sprint signal and it works perfectly...just no Roaming EV-DO around here yet.

There are A LOT of people that talk bad about Sprint, and I know they have their problems, but so does every other carrier, nobody is perfect. Everyone has had different experiences with different carriers. My dad has Cingular/AT&T and has loved it, but they're moving to MO soon and they hardly get any service at their new house. I haven't tried my Sprint phone out there yet.

I have Sprint - but only until day after tomorrow.

I went through five western states with nothing but Roaming while my Verizon-equipped travelmates had four bars. When I got back and tried to contact Sprint, dialing *2 yielded nothing - not even a connection to support. the phone simply failed to call out. Finally, telemarketing people from Sprint who could barely speak English have been calling me at home from noisy VoIP connections. Good thing for them they didn't call me after I got back from out west! I finally gave up. When my Verizon phone arrives I'll have to come back and change my vote.

I'm anticipating my 30 day trial as I head through the Smokies to the beaches of the Carolinas.

Is the Sero plan still available for the public?

The price is just too compelling. Even though sprint has shitty service, and i hate non-gsp phones, i will have to give it a shot when my contract expires.

First Phone = I880 (Nextel) Sucks with any bluetooth otherwise great phone.. Plans is 3000 minutes/ Nite at 7pm, Unlimited Text, Unlimited Web and mob to mob for a total of $100 a month
Second phone = VX6700 PDA 500 minutes/ nite at 7/ Unlimited Web & Data/ Unlimited Text and mob to mob for a total of $15 a month
Third phone = Pantech 500 (Aircard) Unlimited Broadband for $15 a month (Network just updated to EVDO in most of Harrisburg, PA)
Fourth Phone = V3m Razor (Junk) 500 minutes/ Nites at 7/ Unlimited Text/ Mobile to Mobile / for $15 a month..

I wouldn't have all this with Sprint/Nextel if it wasn't under $200 a month..

Other - US Cellular. I recently moved to Omaha and was really bummed to have to leave T-mo, even though they let me out of the contract. I have to say so far I'm very impressed with USC and so far the only downer is CDMA

I've got Verizon and use the cell as a supplemental tool, not a primary phone nor do I use the phone heavily. 450 minutes, used 179 last month; $15/month Vcast data plan lets me check email, sometimes send a simple reply = about $63/month total bill. The coverage in the Bay Area, out to Santa Cruz is OK, I guess, but there are a lot of spots where other people are talking and I've got 'No Service'. A high percentage of the few calls I get, it seems, go to voicemail, even in town. I just bought a little notebook (Eee-pc) and would like the capability of occasional connectivity for a little more sophisticated interaction with the web but I can't justify, at my level of usage, $60/month for the data plan that would allow me to tether to my phone. Verizon, bastards that they are, disabled certain built-in features on the Moto e815 (and others, evidently) to force subscribers to pay for network time to do the same things the phone was built to do natively. So, I'm looking for a more reasonable plan with someone else.
