| | It about Economics The Price for Naked DSL is right. To me this is a non story. DSL with POTS or not ATT has every right to charge for the use of the copper form the CO to home. This is why bundling makes economic sense. One has already rented the transport so it is easier just to add a new service to the same line.

| | | Bundled packages are a standard corporate economics strategy to maximize profits, which corporations are in the business of doing. It's no different than "SuperSize Me". It's simply the economies of scale.
Companies that bill you every month have overhead attributable to each customer that represents the specific costs of having that customer. Let's say for example, that the cost of maintaing a single customer is $10. That cost is $10 whether the customer uses a single service or a dozen services. It only makes sense to extend savings to customers who purchases more than one service. Hence, "Bundled Savings".
I got rid of my landline phone a year ago when I got Adelphia HSI. I had wanted to get rid of it at least 3 years sooner, but cable was not available (I moved). I told them I only wanted the HSI, because I hardly ever watch TV. They gave me basic cable for half price.
As a final note, I used to pay AOL somewhere in the neighborhood of $500 a month before they went Unlimited.  | |
