Only solution is muni fiber

Get the local government to install FTTH and then open those fibers to anybody who wants to provide services. That'd be the best way to have access competition.

You used "government" and "competition" synonymously. Is that left coast logic? The private sector will always incur less cost than the government will.

Left coast logic? What kind of argument is that? The government is good at a few things: building infrastructure (i.e. roads, etc.) that benefit everyone is one of them.
