[modem/router] Westell 6100 USB drivers for Macs

EdLincoln : I finally broke down and got DSL. My DSL modem will not connect to my iMac. With some experimentation, I determined that my ethernet port isn't working. Fortunately My Westell 6100 modem has a USB port. My iMac detect the modem when I connect it, but doesn't treat it as a part of a network, or use it. The modem does not detect the iMac. (the light does not go on).

Does the USB port option for Westell 6100 modems work for Macs? I've hear rumors it isn't supported for Macs.
Are there drivers I can download? Where would I download them?

I THINK the ethernet port is a hardware issue. (I borrowed a friend's router to see if it connected) but I'm not certain. Are there any software issues with Mac OSX detecting modems by ethernet?

I find I get a PC person quickly when I call Verizon, but when I mention I have a Mac, I get transferred, and spend forever on hold before giving up.
