 | Hmmm....no one mentioned this yet...... Where are all the comments that costs go up and Comcast needs to raise rates because people constantly want newer and better services and Comcast's constant "upgrading" of the system.
Looks like they are trying to build their cash reserves for the impending fight. |

FiOS is not in those areas yet so Comcast is milking the cows one last time before they bolt to the greener pasture. You can bet that once Verizon goes live there will be some Comcast promo deals and a lot of retention specials which will not be offered unless you threaten to jump. -- Toolmaster of La Grange. |

| I'm still trying to find out when my T1 contract expires so I can (try to) time the switch before I (try to) set up an appointment with Verizon. * crosses fingers AND toes *
I plan to set up my husband's computer first, since he is the most "typical" user in the house (me and my son both have very little tolerance for a flaky connection). I'll hook up BBR's line monitor for a month of observation before I cut the cord on the T1. (Note to VZ installer: I'll be pacing between the pole and the NID during the ENTIRE installation guarding the T1 drop, so please don't touch.)
It's going to be really hard to switch from dedicated to shared. |

That would require actually providing satisfactory service, something they've obviously incapable of. Odd though it may seem, I keep expecting that to change. But over the holidays I spoke to quite a few Comcast subscribers. From NJ to PA to MD, they all launched (unsolicitied, I might add) "Comcast rants" at one point or another. Those in NJ aren't going to be very delighted with this hike. Ditto for the rest when the (inevitable) hike his their 'hood. |

RadioDoc58ef2c0Premium,ExMod 2000-03 join:2000-05-11 | Here in the west Cook Chicago suburbs, where that 3% rate increase would be less than what is spent daily on designer coffee drinks and lawn ornaments, each rate increase and/or channel deletion from basic cable (thus requiring a digital cable box at additional charge) is met with the sprouting of dozens of satellite dishes on $500K-$2,000K homes. It isn't about the money here; its about the putrid service provided for that money.
The corporate philosophy of most cable operators has not changed a bit in 30 years: Don't like it? We don't care as long as you keep paying us every month. Comcast just happens to have a mouthy egomaniac at the helm who personifies corporate arrogance and makes a great example of this screw-the-customer attitude.
Someone above compared them to Big Oil. They learned well: Blame the cost increases on the source, except that in this case it isn't Saudi Arabia it's Disney. Both are vapid excuses for fleecing their monopoly captives. -- Toolmaster of La Grange. |
