I say that because not everyone can get Satellite. In this situation, for their to be true competition for EVERYONE, I believe that there should be more cable providers over the same infrastructure i.e., more than one cable provider. |

Like I mentioned, not everyone can get sat for various reasons. There is supposed to be competition. The status quo is not working out in terms of competition. The constant cable rate hikes every year is a clear indication of that as well. They rates are higher than the rate of inflation. Per article above, they are claiming record profits. That means they are raising rates just because they know they can get away with it. There is no viable competition. |

Steve BPremium join:2004-08-02 Seattle, WA | Not necessarily. It could be that but, I'm not saying it has to be exactly like that. I really don't care how they would bring in more than one cable provider as long as they could. Granted, I know it really isn't much of a realistic idea but, unless someone pulls out a new kind of true, nationwide coverage, television service that will be viable competition for Comcast, how else is it going to happen? |

Anyway this is all just so much mental masturbation. The overwhelming majority will just keep on paying exorbitant rates for the same old crap they've been getting for years. Most are too lazy to do much else but lay on the couch clicking away on the remote or the keyboard and nothing changes.
Give 'em 10 more years until they have stepped over so many lines that the FTC breaks them up a la the old AT&T. -- Toolmaster of La Grange. Save the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus! |

Qwest is broke or at least, doesn't have much money and is just sitting around trying to figure out what and how and if they will do anything. |

Maybe he'll have better luck with Qwest. -- Toolmaster of La Grange. Save the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus! |
