| Banner Ad in cable guide --need to buycott Comcast
Comcast in Port Huron,Michigan area has begun using the guide flip bar to promote ads and advice on how to use services. The problem is it takes away 20% of the tv guide channels. Instead of being able to see whats on channels 2,3,4,5,and 6 at one time you can only see 2,3,4 and five. The 6 slot is now a banner ad. They rolled this out about a year ago and quickly did away with it.Everyone hates it.They dont seem to care.If this doesn't go away again for good i suggest we start a boycott of comcast premium channels (HBO,etc) first. Everybody get ready to cancel those channels. If that doesn't work we will have to look at what the next step could be. As consumers we should be able to get what we like. I suggest talking to or emailing your local officials also. Anyway, think about it and be ready to act if they stubbornly stick this down our throats. |

I personally boycotted Comcast a few years ago. Misleading offers, rude customer service, unwarranted price hikes were just some of the reasons. The only things I miss are the local forecasts on the Weather Channel, Canadian TV without rabbit ears and a couple public access shows that were unintentionally quite funny. |

| I called the Comcast in the Boston area to remove my banner ads and the tech support woman said that she didn't blame me that I wanted them removed. She said that she would have them removed for me. Two weeks later, I still had the banner ads. I called Comcast back and a different tech support guy said that the tech support woman was incorrect, and that they couldn't remove the banner ads. He said that they are in a trial period and they are collecting information and seeing how many people call in to complain. He said that he was surprised that not very many people have called in to complain. I tried very hard to reason with him, but he wouldn't budge and said he couldn't remove the banner ad. Verizon Fios is cheaper so I will be switching once it comes to my neighborhood. |
