Good luck....if this is true.

With a vast majority of the US population that is computer illiterate, will the jury understand the meaning of spyware and how it works? All the prosecuting attorney has to do is put it very simply that she was looking at porn. The defense has to be "techie" which is a very steep hill to climb in court.

On a side note, doesn't Norton practically give their corporate edition antivirus away to schools? I know a lot of low income schools that have this software because of the almost free cost. The new version does a decent job at spyware protection. I have heard of other companies offering educational discounts for spyware protection like Spysweeper.

Course, schools can't hire good IT people due to their financial constraints.

But, like was stated, why didn't she turn the monitor off, pull the plug, or something? Sounds to me likes she's going to be SOL!

More likely, due to their incompetent and conniving school boards which are training grounds for con men and future politicians (as if there were a difference).

Don't forget sexual deviants (been plenty in last year)...Female teachers with 15 yr olds, Male teachers with 16 yr olds, VP's wife with student, ...

But honestly, the catty nature of the school administration and it's "mired tenure of dysfunctional teachers" leads one to believe, it could be a setup.

Oh, and that post about Corp Antivirus from Symantec isn't free to schools. And it doesn't do much to protect you "actively" from spyware and malware (you have to be diligent and use another layer, and what about proxy server??).

School systems don't exist in a vacuum, and they're not some form of solitary ecosystem. At best our primary education system is a reflection of the society it serves, no more or no less. The boards may be corrupt, but that didn't happen overnight: we have a new generation of employees, both administrators and teachers, that now come from a dysfunctional generation. Add gender issues, open sexuality, and a sex sells media, and these stories will soon be commonplace. Our school system began going to hell full-force in the 80s.

They just have to ask the jury how they get the same types of pop ups on their computers at home. They will understand how quick that stuff just "appears" on their computers.

Having graduated HS in 82, I consider myself a product of 70s public education. In my opinion, it went down hill in the 70s and continued in the 80s.

I have three kids and from personal experience, today's public education is better than my education. My kids are learning skills about three years ahead of when I learned them.

Even though I believe the academics are better, some things are worse. It's unfortunate that today's public schools believe they have to teach kids sex, green issues and health. Just the other day my wife sent a cereal bar with my older boys and the teacher would not let them eat it because it was not nutritious. That's B.S. I can understand putting boundaries with respect to sugar content (might lead to behavior issues) and a "mess factor" (don't want something that makes a huge mess in the classroom) but nutrition? I think that's ridiculous and they should spend their time worrying about a lot more important things. Granted, Americans have a weight problem but my oldest boy is in the 10th percentile for weight and my middle boy is in the 25th percentile for weight.

Why do today's schools believe they are format for social engineering? It reminds of "right of first night" from the Middle Ages. If they won't conform, we'll breed it out of them. In this case, we'll teach it out of them.

Good points all, but public education is a relative experience both geographically and socioeconomically ... in my opinion, of course and there's always exception to any rule. From the perspective of an instructor, some systems nose dived a good twenty-five to thirty years ago, so we're close enough.

The reason sex education exsists is because some parents refuse to tell their kids how those things work. Then said kids go and have sex, and have a kid. Gee, I wonder why. If you don't like sex education you can opt your kid out. However, I hope you dont keep your kid in the dark, or you may end up with a kid who has a kid at the age of 14.

I guess you didn't goto school anytime before the 60's. If you did, you would realize that that statement applied more back then, then it does now.

Oh you said corp, heh, I though you were going to say their software in general because I'd tell you about the 20G we just dropped on Enterprise, it was a bidding process fro vendors though, not directly from symantec, don't know if thats possible or cheaper (we can't we are forced to bid)

Anywho, I've found it to do an OK job and things, maybe its alot better at stopping infections then finding and cleanin them, which is A OK in my book because there are many free tools todo this I consider AntiSpy a plus anyway.

I do have an actual free standing though though.

Unfortunately us teachers have to watch what kids bring in to school to eat because there are many parents that do not. Also certain states are holding schools to certain nutritional standards as well and it is the teacher's duty to make sure that they are being met. It's unfortunate that when I ask some of my students (3rd & 4th graders) what they have for breakfast the common reply is "pop tarts", "a slice of cake" or some other sugar filled product.

It stinks that things are the way they are but you can thank lawsuit happy parents and "No Child Left Behind" for some of the mess we are in.

We've already had to have the birds and bees talk with our 10 year old (5th grade). I think that's too young but we overheard him making statements to our 8 year old about the subject that were completely wrong. We know he did not get them from TV because we do not allow him to watch even PG shows without us. We assumed he received it from class mates and rather than have him running around with incorrect information, we laid down the truth about his genitals, the Easter bunny and Santa. It was surprising how wrong his sex knowledge was.

Regarding going to school in the 60s -- no, I'm not quite that old. I was in Kindergarten in '69 but the only thing I remember is some of the kids getting spanked by Mrs. Smith -- which of course is not allowed today.

I thought this was with respect to the lunch program. If the school doesn't have vending machines and the school lunch program meets the guidelines, I cannot believe that the teacher/school is accountable for what the child brings from home.

No morals, an I.Q that matches her shoe size, public schools with a very liberal socialist agenda. Removal of prayer from school, teaching sex-ed, promotion of alternative lifestyles (homosexual-ism). The motto of wear a condom, during sex , lack of teaching to refrain from sexual activity.

She got caught surfing for porn on taxpayers money, good, shit can her, revoke her bubble gum diploma. There is no excuse for this behavior, she should know better.

It's no wonder, Johnny can't read or write and at best is limited to Verizon math. With the school system so f**ked up from top to bottom, the kids do not stand much of a chance of a honest education these days.

First off, there is never promotion of alternative lifestyles. Homesexuals are still treated like crap at any public school. And if you are suggesting that they should be treated like crap, or ridiculed your a biggot.

Second, do you actually beleive that removing prayer from school equates to deviant behavior? Give me a break. The only thing prayer does in a public school is subject people who arent that religion to humiliation.

Third, have you ever witnessed a sex ed class? Their number one priority is to make sure the kids dont have sex. They scare kids with the STD thing beyond beleif.

The motto of wear a condom during sex is better then remaining ignorent to the fact that kids will have sex anyways. Would you rather tell the kids to wear a condom, or tell them nothing at all? That seems to be your attitude.

You assumed right, he most likely did receive it from class mates who probally don't watch only PG content daily, and see a myriad of advertisements promoting all sorts of behavior. Yet for some reason you decide to point the finger at the teacher. Lots of people like pointing the finger at the teacher, its easier then dealing with your own kid.

I went to sex ed 6 times, would have been more if I hadnt dropped out. In AK they started when i was in 5th grade. Lets just say I was too scared to have sex untill my hormones took control of my decision making process. "Maybe I shouldnt" turned into "Does she have a pulse?"

Hell, when i was in HS in the mid 90's I refused to say the anthem because of the "under God" part. KIDS DONT WANT PRAYERS IN SCHOOL. Even some of the kids wearing crosses refused to stand. I dont think they should BAN prayer from school, I just dont think they should devote school rescources to it or make it mandatory. If you're a Christian/Jew/Buddhist/Muslim/Hindu/ whatever, go ahead and and read your holy book, pray quietly to yourself or with a small group of like minded individuals, THATS WHAT THIS COUNTRY IS ABOUT. Just dont go and tell me that I HAVE to help pay for your prayer group through my taxes because you think it should be school funded. If I wanted to pay for your spiritual education, I'd donate to your church.

And uh, yeah, if you think promoting diversity and tolerance by allowing kids to be openly gay is "promoting homosexuality", then you ARE a bigot, no ifs, ands or buts. And like the above poster said, they still get rediculed into the ground, so at least you can feel warm and fuzzy about that.

Being called a bigot, for what ever reason or for not accepting homosexuality, does not hurt me. In fact, one does not have to worry about me. Rather worry what GOD has said about homosexuality in the Bible. King James Version: "Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind: it is abomination". No other explanation is needed or accepted. TYVM

Quite simply it boils down to this. There is really no such thing as homophobia. It is a false concept created by the gay community to smear the healthy aversion to a unnatural and disgusting deviancy."

You do realize your statements put a hole in, and knocked back the so called, theory of evolution a few centuries?

Since the dawning of creation, man only evolved into homo's? I guess the animal kingdom (being so 1900's) will need a few million additional eons to become just as evolved to accept and practice homosexuality.
