No one gets it do they? It is a a Cingular phone. That means it has a SIM card. Now anyone with two brain cells to rub together will know that you can get one of these phones, unlock it, and then you can use it on any GSM network (provided the phone will be quad band which I bet it will)
That's the reason Cingular is carrying it. Not because Cingular got an exclusive scoop, but because it is a GSM phone that will go easily to other carriers once the Cingular exclusivity lock runs out.

| I personally think that it was all a marketing strategy. There is no way that apple could have thought that cisco would allow them to use the name, especially after their multi-year negotiation process.
The more people talk about the lawsuit, the more people talk about the phone.
It is a shame about the lack of real broadband, and i'd love to see it come to CDMA, although I'm sure even if it did, verizon would drag their feet on adopting it |
