Looking for decent 40mm fans

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good place to purchase quiet 40mm fans. I realize it is tough to get quiet, high-quality fans in this size, but from time to time I have a need to replace a small fan. Usually they are of differing thicknesses, so one type won't work in all scenarios.

»www.endpcnoise.com has one in stock. »www.directron.com carries some occasionally that they refer to as "quiet", but they either don't post dBA ratings or their noise levels aren't what I'd consider quiet.

I've done some searching on the »www.silentpcreview.com/ forums, but the results I've come up with are generally along the lines of "small fans must spin too fast to be quiet". From my experience, I tend to agree with this.

It isn't always practical, or even possible, to use passive alternatives, larger fans, or run at a lower voltage. Sometimes sticking with the 40mm noisemaker is the most reasonable approach. Is this just a pipe dream?

Nexfan.com has three 40mm fans with ratings from 22DBA to 25DBA. But I think the "small fans must spin too fast to be quiet" holds true.

Excellent! Thanks for the link. I believe one of the fans I need to replace is actually a 7mm thick fan. At those prices it is worth buying each of the different models and checking them out myself.
