Actually I know of some spyware that does this, so far I haven't found a program thats associated with it but there is something that changes home pages to sites that then when ran either directly display a fake warning page that shows porn images and says something like this is whats on your computer get out cleaner blah blah blah. The other one kicks you to another page or a varity of pages that do the same thing, thus you go looking for that url and can't find it. There were some variants of CoolWebSearch that would do this (just as a starting point of course - there are many others). I've had to deal with trying to remove those at work.
www.goggle.com was one of the mistyped sites that was infecting people at the time. Haven't checked to see if it still lives or not. |
