the figures for both Michael and the soccar player includes endorsement deals - so it is not pure salary. |

He IS the best in the world you know. Besides, don't MOST top athletes in sports receive contracts for ung*dly amounts of money? -- "The most affectionate creature in the world is a WET dog"---- Ambrose Bierce |

Tiger Woods made $90 million last year as the top paid athlete.
Spielberg made $332 mil and Oprah $225 mil
Funny thing is, Bill Gates would jump out a window if he woke up and realized he only had Oprah's money!!

Read the section "Family and off-track life" - he was the first billionaire sports celebrity. $40 MILLION for 16-22 races a year then another estimated $40 million from sponsors. One sponsor paid him $8 million for a " 10 centimeters by 8 advertisement on his post-race cap." |

| reply to Reese1972 Well I personally don't see soccer being on the level of Football,Baseball or even the NBA so I don't see the sense in it. I heard on GMA this morning that his sneaker line was outrageously priced(over $400.00. But this guy won't take america by storm you can bet on it! |

From the December 06 edition of F1 Racing, Michael Schumacher's salary...not total income...salary at Ferrari for 2006 was $65 mil.
Since 1996 his salary has given him a cumulative $495m in earnings. Before endorsements and other deals, which are estimated to be almost near his salary total.

This is a surprise to most Americans, but soccer or football, is the most popular sport in the world. Soccer is played in literally every country in the world. You can't say that for football, baseball, or basketball... Just to keep things rolling, here's some stats (circa 2002) as to what is the "most popular" sport. Soccer is #4. It's probably really #2 or 3, judging from other information on that page.
