Re: HighGain 8186HP

I have one that is in use with non-LOS, but it's around 5 blocks away from the AP.

ajayr,
Keep in mind these things don't have a very low receive sensitivity..(-84) -78 is not going to give you a very high fade margin. And more then likely you will lose that client every now and then. Or it will switch data rates a lot.

I have one customer whom I have the unit pointing into a bunch of evergreen trees about 1 km away. Behind it is the access point. Signal is -80, his download speed is 1200k. He uses it for his xbox. I have never heard a peep out of him since, never a problem. The access point is roughly 3 miles away. It still astonishes me today!

I have 1 shooting through the customers exterior wall and they are 1.68 miles from the tower. It is setting on top of the desk. They didn't want any holes drilled in to the new house or nothing mounted onto it. the signal is -65 on cpe and -62 on tower. I haven't heard a peep from them since I installed them over 3 months ago.
