I would like to get a N router just to mess with their signal.
...o.k......

Every year my connection gets worse because my neighbors get wireless and have no idea they are giving the whole neighboorhood free wireless or messing up other peoples connections.
... and does your neighborhood have some sort of a wireless committee? Do you have a set standard as to how many people in your area can have wireless so it stops "messing with your connection?" did you lick the wireless to make it yours first or something?

I fail to see what you are getting at here. You matter and they don't? How is another neighbor infringing on YOUR right and YOUR alleged airspace?

simple, log onto their routers, and change them all to channel 11, and set urs to channel 1. Thats what I did.

What's the law on that in S.C. because in VA it is a felony. Wouldn't want to encourage people to take chances like that before exploring the law in their areas.

well, you *could* log into each of their routers and, at the very least, change the channel it's operating on. I know it's not technically "right", but it's not harming their network either.

Of course, like you said, if you get a pre-N router, you'll not only have an excellent signal yourself, but you'll suppress your neighbors signals heavily.

@cox.net

I have like 4 neighbors who don't get the concept of encrypting their wireless network or changing the channel they are on. I would like to get a N router just to mess with their signal. Every year my connection gets worse becuase my neighbors get wireless and have no idea they are giving the whole neighboorhood free wireless or messing up other peoples connections.
