I guess we will have to wait and see, but nothing was to take effect for your 2006 property taxes. It starts in 2007 and is phased in over three years.
"Because of their leadership, homeowners and businesses will save $15.7 billion on school property taxes over the next three years enough to lower rates by 33 percent" from the Governors office.
If you want to read the entire bill , it is HB1 of the 3rd session in 2006. It is online but was too long for me to want to browse through.
[edit] I was treasurer of a volunteer fire department until recently which received tax money from an Emergency Services District. We approved our budget for the following year in May and the tax rate for the district was set by the middle of the summer. The county, etc basically have the same schedule. So it is obvious that a tax bill passed in May could not have any effect on the same year taxes. |
