I worked in the City from 1999-2005. Downtown (around Chinatown) and I had an Internet cafe business.
When 911 happenes, my T1 was dead for 5 months before it came back on. EVEN tho it came back the quality was like shit, it Disconnect every 3-5 days. and have to dispatch someone to fix it. and its been like that for another 4-5 months I said to myself I have enough of this bullshit. After tons of phone calls between Verizon and Verio(my ISP back then) , they decided to drop an OC-3 at my location(it took another 1/2 year cuz of all the digging and stuff...) ...... For the Price and Speed of a T1 !!! (I would say this is overkill, cuz OC-3 and only T1 speed and I was the only user ..... but hey I never had a problem since then for the rest of the time I work there)
They wouldnt give me anything faster tho. I mean come on .... *Sigh*
So what Im trying to say is that, if Verizon wanna work fast, they could. but if its not important (like my Area, or the whole queens, FIOS deployment) they will take their time ......

| I do have to agree with some of the comments on here. It does seem as though right now Queens, although deployment is going well, could be going alot faster. Seems the company is waiting for the franchise agreement before the kick things into high gear. I think this idea is flawed, but then again I am only a foot solider....... |

| any info on floral park ? i am waiting for a call from them but they say it could be days or a few weeks and my friend 2 blocks away got an install date for tomorrow but my number still isn't available and i am even closer to the CO than he is. the block is wired just like his and i don't understand why his would be ready and mine wouldn't. any idea's? |

I just went by there today while I was on my way to Mineola...and I can confirm like you have that its wired lol...I got to finally experience in person FIOS wiring on the poles in both these areas and took some pictures.

I had SLA thats why they didnt charge me a penny for those *down* months. Well no point of switching to another ISP back then cuz the WHOLE downtown area was affected. So swtiching ISP not gonna help ....
But still ... DAmn Verizon , U can do better than this ! Speed it up I'll be ur first customer (Your DSL sucks, so please dont push it to me)
