Re: [FP] FYI: The purchase of the two Core 2 Duo blades

I was having issues with the network, playing/testing things.
I think I'm finally settled, and have enough ethernet connections, and to get it up and still keep a close eye on the first one. (no basement yet!)

. . . . . likely tomorrow . . . . .

BTW - I was playing with my AMD64 and it is temporarily crunching from net boot at a TH_Foldinator too. (doing a p2905)

I had said I would get some pics of the setup, but that continually worked against me. First I had to remember the camera. Then I discovered my USB card reader was bad. Then I for got the camera again (it comes in handy at work!), then it was home but the SD card was in the reader at work. Then I misplaced the camera at home somewhere, and thought it was at work! For a while I was afraid the camera was lost.

Once I located the camera a home (!) I had thought I lost the SD card (!!)

Long story short, I brought the camera home and was considering dropping by Sam's Club for a SD stick - but I found the memory! (And you all trust me with all this equipment! well ... most do ... until now.)

Thanks Steve.

EVERYONE to me starts with our family, TEAM HELIX.

Without the team, where would all the encouragement and bright minds be found?

Those who have rallied with donations, advice, and support are what allows TH_Foldinator to accomplish anything. Just one of these cores is faster than any AMD or Pentium D we've yet purchased for the Foldinator Project.

And if we get enough continued donations, ... we have PCI-E x16 motherboards now (Hint, hint, ...)

Re: [FP] Every Helixer who donated or not should be proud.

Some energy thoughts if we all had core duo ...

156 watts burning for the two core duo PCs.

So,
78 watts for each core duo mother board
60 watts on an AMD2600

COMPARATIVELY
2400ppw for 78watts Core duo 2400/78=30.8 points per watt per week
0750ppw for 60watts AMD2600 750/60=12.5 points per watt per week.

For the same watts burning,
you get 2.5 times the output

More power experiments

I tried running A Power 400W on F2-10/F2-11
and the overall wattage is around 172 watts for the two dual core
It was 156 watts consistent before, so one power supply change added 16 watts.

Instead of 78 watts the blade now is 94 watts, or 20% more.
I guess you get what you pay for.
