to New4New Point 1. I don't think I understand your question. Anyway. (I have 2 iMacs (wireless), 1 PC, and 1 Dell printer connected (cable) to the USR router.) Point 1. Static local IP. I did not really solved the problem. I bypassed it by doing what I wrote in my previous message. I instructed the iMac to set the IP manually.
Configure IPV4 = Using DHCP with manual address [set by me] IP address: 192.168.1.20X [set by me]
The local IP address dynamically set by the USR router starts at 192.168.1.02, so in practice no conflict ever occurs and my iMac always gets the same IP. This allows me to use this IP for accessing the server as configured in Point 2) of my previous message.
My Dell printer get its IP dynamically, but consistently the same IP (192.168.1.06). (How???) The PC and guest computers get their IP dynamically in sequence starting from 192.168.1.02. If enough computers get connected before the DELL printer gets turned on, DELL will get the first available IP.
Point 2) All I wrote in my previous message stands. However, I discovered that my homepage, although not accessible from within hy local net using the IP assigned by the provider to my USR router, it is perfectly accessible from outside. It seems that, when accessed from within the local net, the USR router recognizes itself immediately and responds accordingly. The result is that I cannot test my home page locally, but the server can be accessed from outside. Maybe there are settings that can be changed to modify this behavior. But I don't know how to do it. valgiov7 |
