| [Rant] Fileplanet
I joined the 'Founder's Club' (membership for Fileplanet, Gamespy, IGN, 3DGamer and few more) $60/yr
You get 1200 hitpoints for up to 2 free games (this was my main reason to get the service plus to be able to download files with no wait). Even though I have the most complete membership their pages are littered with 'UPGRADE NOW' and similar crap. The games offered suck big time IMHO. I see no ads either way because I use Ad Muncher. I don't care about IGN membership.
Most of the games offered are old:
Evil Genius Empire Earth Gold Buccaneer's Bounty Neighbors from Hell: On Vacation Singles - Flirt up your Life Hitman 2: Silent Assassin CRC 2005 RollerCoaster Tycoon® 2: Wacky Worlds Tomb Raider: Chronicles X2 - The Threat Beyond Good and Evil Civilization II: Test of Time IL-2 Sturmovik: Forgotten Battles Warlords IV: Heroes of Etheria Civilization III: Gold Edition CSI: Dark Motives Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Civilization III: Game of the Year Atari Arcade Hits Eve Online w/ Exodus Expansion Magic: The Gathering - Battlegrounds RollerCoaster Tycoon® 2: Combo Park Pack with Wacky Worlds Expansion Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Line of Sight: Vietnam Tactical Ops: Assault on Terror IL-2 Sturmovik Myst III: Exile Deer Hunter® 2004 RollerCoaster Tycoon® 2 Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield Driver Atari: 80 Classic Games in One Commandos 3: Destination Berlin The Chronicles of Riddick Marine Park Empire Combat Mission: Afrika Korps Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin Nemesis of the Roman Empire Strategic Command: European Theater Commandos 2: Men of Courage Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition Deus Ex: Invisible War Thief: Deadly Shadows Praetorians Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord
Their tech supports uses scripted replies and there is no way to get a refund. It's a waste of money. And the speed I get from fileplanet highspeed servers is around 400 kB/s and the only way to max my connection is to use 3dgamer site.
This feels better and now I'm off to dispute the charges... |

I hope you get stuck with the charges, as you got exactly what your paid for. |

1 edit | reply to CylonRed You guys would not believe what a threat to cancel the account will do for you. You should try it out sometimes.
Either way I really did not want to discuss my CC company but Fileplanet's shitty service. I had to ask them 3 times to get an answer to my question.
Also all of the games are what 2005 or older? |

Threatening to quit doesn't work how you would think with other companies, I recently quit working for a cellular company, and I actually enjoyed not having to put up with pushy customers who really didn't have any real problems.
If there was a real service problem there might be room to discuss, however this was a membership to multiple sites, and the games were a benefit.
So what if some games are a older? If you expected to get two free newer release games, and the membership to all those sites for $60 you must be on something. Whatever your are doing please share it since your quite delusional. -- My hourly rates: $25 per hour. $35 per hour if you want to watch. $45 per hour if you want to help. $75 per hour if you tried to fix it, and failed. $125 per hour if you called tech support, and didn't fix the issue while making things worse |

| Actually I expected to be offered to get one new release. You see most of them cost 400-800 points (and I have 1200) and I would rather get one new game instead of that crap.
They do offer other games but for purchase only.
I do like the Game Spy Arcade though so I may keep the membership. However I wanted to let other potential customers know what games they can get just in case if they wanted the same thing I did.
I work for a cable company and I know if you whine and bitch long enough there are no limits
Yes it sucks when you're on the other end but that's a nice change for once. |

| reply to Anonymous Hell if i saw that list of games on a WAREZ SERVER, I wouldn't download any of them. Do they disclose what you get BEFORE you pay? I agree tho if you pay, you shouldn't be getting pages littered with upgrade now messages. -- You can never be too rich, too thin or have too much Bandwidth |

  Anonymous Premium join:2004-06-01 IA | They don't. That's the problem. |
