??? MythTV is free. Unless you're talking about buying a new computer to run it on. I just run it on my existing desktop. I did have to buy a TV tuner card though. $45 on sale, if I remember correctly. The guide data is free, not a monthly (or lifetime) pay subscription like Tivo.

It also doesnt have support for anything encrypted, as there is no cable card PC devices as of yet.

No but it takes the output of your set top box as an input...
And it pilots your STB so that it tunes the correct channel.

Yes... And HD Capture cards with component video input support @ 1080i 60 cost somewhere around the tune of 1000 dollars, or more.

AH ok. Didn't know series 3 was doing HD recording. However, how much do they sell the series 3 for???

HD is so overrated anyway

series 3 is sold by tivo for 799. has 2 cable card slots, dual qam/atsc/ntsc tuner, etc.
