Actually, the real reason is this-
A genetic defect causes a blue lobster to produce an excessive amount of protein. The protein wraps around a small, red carotenoid molecule known as as astaxanthin. The two push together, forming a blue complex known as crustacyanin which gives the lobster shell a blue color.

| I used to work on lobster boats out of Point Judith Rhode Island. We had caught not only a blue lobster, but an albino one was well. Both were sent off to aquariums.
Beautiful creatures they are.

California woman caught this pix of me in P-Town. She's a nice lady, but she offered to buy my boat if I brought her back to shore. Deal is, I get a trip to Maine /New Hampshire /Vermont every year... I keep quiet about her gagging on chum and waves, AND I keep quiet in tourist places. (Fill in the blanks) | |
