I'm Dave, I've been married 22 years and have two young girls.

I'm a retired Air Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal (E O D) --military bomb squad--technician. I retired from the military, not the work force.

I am the extended family's computer geek... And did that even when I was stationed 3000 miles away. Thanks to Bill Gates for 'Remote Assistance'--really! :)

After the Air Force I went to work for Adelphia doing internet tech support and was there for the transition to Time Warner Cable (Roadrunner). Was laid off when TWC closed Coudersport PA operations. I worked in a factory until very recently.

I play the guitar and struggle with the mandolin. I enjoy hiking, hunting and fishing.

I must admit that I do use bait on my hook. :o I suppose if I were a professional fisherman I would stand knee deep in icy water for weeks on end trying to grab a fish with my bare hands--that way we would all know that I earned my meal the natural way. ;)

But I digress.

Ok, Im boring but here goes....

My name is Ron, Im 32 years old. Born in Wisconsin raised in Michigan. After a brief stay at MSU, I got a job working for a Outdoor recreation equipment manufacture. we made canoe & kayak paddles, but were the main distributors for the kayaks, boats, boat motors.. etc.... i eventually worked My way up and started designing the paddles, going on the trade shows etc.... I was engaged to be married. everything was great ! Then I was diagnosed with cancer, and there went the job and the woman. After battling that and the depression that followed, after some years I am finally getting back out into the world, Have met a wonderful woman. who is also a cancer survivor, meet her by chance. and after one night of talking that was that.. :) however her cancer has returned, and we are dealing with that the best we can. the cost of it is the hardest part right now. having been through it myself I thought I knew what to expect, but going through it yourself and watching someone you care about go through it are two entirely different things ! but even with all that going on it's still the happiest time in my life :)

My name is Chris. I am 24, born in northern California, but we moved to SoCal a year later, where I still live today. I have had an interest in music my whole life, and in elementary school started playing the song flute; it was something the whole school did to introduce music to us. After that I was hooked. I started to play the trumpet in the elementary school band, and continued up through high school. I was in the marching band, concert band, Jazz band.

When I was young I got a little keyboard from selling tickets in cub scouts. Slowly throw the years moved up to bigger and bigger versions, but never took a lesson. The last 5 years I really started to play keyboard more and more, making up my own songs, and playing stuff I heard on the radio. I tried to record some of my stuff, but I couldn't get the midi to work right. I will have to try again and get it working. Last month I finally started to take piano lessons.

I didn't know what I wanted to do out of high school, so I ended up working with my dad doing finish carpentry. The company installs high end commercial woodwork(cabinets, doors, millwork). You might have seen some of our work if you have been to the new Claim Jumper Restaurants in Illinois, Oregon, or Arizona. Most of the work we do is in resorts, and hotels. I like the work that I do, and am proud of it, but I cant stand waking up so early in the morning. Don't hold me to it, but I am looking into the possibility of starting a Pentax lens rental company. I know a lot of Pentax users would like a place to be able to rent from.

Probably like most of you, I came to BBR because of the Internet stuff they offer, and spotted the photos on the front page. I have always been interested in cameras, and photography, but didn't really get started until I got my first digital camera a few years ago. It was a P&S, but all of your work inspired my to get better at photography, and this year I bought a DSLR.

Ok, my name is Michael. I am 48 years old, born in Brooklyn, raised in Westport, Connecticut, and finished high school in Mt. Prospect, IL. I entered the Navy two weeks after high school graduation in 1977 and stayed in until 1983. I became a printing press operator shortly after my separation from the service. After a few years of printing, it became obvious that I had a way with the machines, so I became an installer. By 1987, I was assembling printing presses throughout the country.

I enjoyed the single life until October 2000 when I was married in my wife's hometown of JiangJin, China. We met in San Francisco at the St. Francis Yacht Club, where my father had a lunch gig for many years. He was a jazz piano player, and the one day he allowed me (or any of his kids) to watch him play ("I'm working goddamit") happened to be the same day my wife's company in town from Beijing came for a luncheon. She and a couple of co-workers requested a song (The theme from The Love Story) and after the song, I noticed my father giving me a look. I walked over and said "what"?
He asked me "what the hell is wrong with you? You are 40 years old, never married, no kids, there are 4 beautiful Chinese women over there at that table giving you the eye, and they dig the old man. Get your ass over there and talk to them!" So, I did, and ended up married to one of them.
One year later we had a baby girl which many of you have seen. Her name is Lia Pearl, and she is now 5½ years old. And believe me, she lets me know it when I forget to mention that "½". This little precious child of mine is my world. I never thought I would need a child to feel complete with my life. Now I can't imagine my life without her.

We started a business just after my baby was born. We import mostly hand-made goods from China, however in the last couple of years it has been my desire to seek out the quality items made in China. Believe it or not, they make some of the finest quality goods that you can find on the planet. The only way to see this for yourself, is to make a trip to China, and remain clear of the touristy parts.
We have a small store near our home, and I also drive to many craft shows and flea markets throughout the midwest to display and sell these items. You name it, I can get it.
I am away from home from Sundays through Thursdays during the summer months, with an occasional two week trip. It's tough being away from my child, but we talk each day and she knows why daddy has to take off each week. Every few weeks they will join me, which makes it nicer for me, but every week would be too tough on them. Arnie too - four days on a leash is very difficult for a Border Collie used to having all the land he would want to chase animals and stretch his legs. His real job, is taking care of my daughter. He will not allow her beyond our driveway gate, just like our last Border Collie, Barney. I never taught either one to do this - it was instinctive to them. Arnie is a happy dog, but very serious when it comes to Lia Pearl. He will stand next to her whenever a stranger approaches and stare at that person. I'll have to get a picture of that someday.

Well, I guess that's about it. I really lack the time to search for the next person to tag, so I will leave that up to the OP. It's his thread, so he can do it.

Why Husky, don't know. I was raised with Collies and always had an affinity for northern breeds. Had an Alaskan Malamute before my Husky, and am THINKING about maybe a Newfie next. Haven't decided though.

I am an avid reader, and do quite a bit of that. (am always in the middle of 3-5 books at any one time.)

MANY MANY moons ago I was a freelance photographer, and have been published in the NY Daily News and the London Daily Mirror.

Never married, no children, but have an 18 year old Siberian Husky who is my son,(avatar)-(gonna get another Collie next weekend cos the other one died in December).

I am in the accounting fields. I am only a temp at present, so I can't be more specific as I have done almost every aspect of the field.

I am a computer geek as is just about everyone in my family. (cept my mom). I was playing a lunar landing game that my dad designed on the COMPUTER in our living room BEFORE we landed on the moon. (if you believe we actually did that...lol)

Welcome to the forum. Interesting Bio it seems you are a world traveler even if it was earlier in your life. There are a few members on site who are into small planes and helicopters.

I currently have a 3 meter plane sitting in my bedroom waiting to be built. I have been a member of the local glider club for about two years. I have accumulated about 54 glider flights but only about 20 hours. The longest flight i've gotten is about 2.5 hours which was during memorial day weekend.

My interest in photography began...well...i'm not so sure. I started out with a compact digital camera, then i moved up to a D50, tried out my dad's F80 (same as the Nikon N80) and Bronica S2 along with his enlarger and what not (didn't really like it), and now I have a Nikon D200.

I entered the Washington State Highschool Photography Competition this year and didn't even recieve a "Select". =P

I'm still not sure what I will do after college. I have no idea what I want to do as a career - engineering of some sort? I am originally from England but now reside in Canada, where I have been happily married for a whole 3 years. I have a 24 year old son who is hoping to move over here next year, a step-son of 26 who is a teacher (and soon to be married) and a step-daughter of 23 who is an amazing singer/songwriter who has a couple of cd's out there.

I used to work as an office manager/administrator but since coming to Canada haven't worked as I don't yet have a work permit or landed status - should be granted in the next few weeks.

I have travelled extensively during the past 25 years - visited Tahiti, Fiji, Cook Islands, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and lived in Hong Kong for 9 years which was a memoriable experience. I have also travelled around Europe and a little further afield (South Africa back in '72) at times.

To the gentleman who was in "Oasis" - phenominal band!!! (Yes, I have a couple of your albums.. sigh!)

My only claim to fame is that I once had tea with David Bowie and his (former) wife at their home, met Phil Collins when he played in Hong Kong (he was having a walk around totally alone early one morning) and served Queen a few beers at an after hours session at a nightclub in Bristol waaaay back in the 70's. (Those were the good ol' days!)

It's been an interesting life so far!

Great idea of tagging yourself and it's nice that you did. Now, if you would, tell us more about you relating to things not photographic...a little bit about you personally. That's what's been so fabulous about this thread in that it has introduced everyone in a manner far more in depth than the forbidden subject, photography. Take it a step further if you would feel comfortable doing so. I am sure that the originator of this thread would agree.

I attended Ryerson University back in '90 for technical theatre production and got into the trade. I was doing mostly lighting in theatre and concerts. After a few years I had lucked into a full time job as an autoworker in Brampton ON. This lasted 3 years before I was out of work again. I decided to go back to school and learn something new. I took a year program in IT and walked out of it with a job. I started working in Burlington for a telecom service company that was starting a call centre to support cable companies IP networks. Before I knew it though I was called back to work (almost 3 years to the day!) and had to leave the IT world behind.

I have been lucky enough to get to travel around North America when I was growing up. Any vacation pictures I took had complaints that the family wasn't in them, it was just mostly the "background scene". Now I am lucky if I get away camping for a weekend or two a year. Golf is another activity I have been neglecting lately, but with the nice weather returning I hope to change that.

I was born in Manhattan, and adopted at birth by Polish immigrants who survived WWII. I lived my first 15 years in Fort Lee, NJ. In 1975 I moved to Montreal upon the death of my mother, and lived with guardians who were lovely friends of our family.
After completing highschool and C.E.G.E.P. (jr college) there I entered McGill U, and lasted about 3 semestres until I found gainful employment as a bartender.
In 1985 I moved north to the Mt-Tremblant region, and worked at a resort called Gray Rocks. There I stayed for 8 years, skiing, mountain biking, hiking, wind surfing, and I started to enjoy the landscape through the lens and on film.
In '93 I went back to school, at Queen's U in Kingston, Ontario. After my B.A. I continued on to complete my B.Sc.N (Nursing Science). I currently work in Public Health in Kingston. I live outside the village of Odessa surrounded by farms and countryside.

I spent 93-98 in the United States Marine Corps after realizing that although I made good money as a welder, I didn't want to do that for the rest of my life. I did more computer and electronics stuff in the Corps and when I got out I tried the civilian world and realized I didn't like that either.

I became a 4th generation cop in 1999, so I guess it was in my blood. I divorced my first wife when I was in the Corps because unfortunately she liked the Marines more than I did. My oldest son is from this marriage. I have full custody of him and raised him by myself for the first 3.5 years and then I met my second and hopefully last wife. We had our daughter in 2000 and our son in 2003. I'm in school, double majoring in Criminal Justice and Computer Science. I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel and my wife graduates in May with her B.S. of Nursing.

I'm starting to se some returns on my photography investments and have had a couple of paid gigs in the recent past. I have a computer/technology consulting and repair business that makes money when I need or want it too so my life is turning out to be what I hoped it too be and maybe a little more. I'm looking at a promotion to Detective soon, but I'm never satisfied even when things are perfect so we'll see what the Good Lord has in store. Because without him I am nothing.

I was getting a little worried. I heard Osama was getting ready to be tagged next. I was planning on keeping this short. But since you people, that's right I said you people, decided to tag me on page 21, I will take this time to air out my garbage. ;)

My name is Bill. I'm 43 years old. I was born in Havana Cuba in 1963. I lived there until I was 6 years old. At that time my father finally accumulated enough frequent flyer miles in the Fidel Castro cane fields to get our family a get out of Cuba pass. We would of left the country sooner but my father lacked the necessary skills to make a Chevy float. :D

When I was 6 we moved to Madrid Spain. We couldn't get into the US right away (can you believe that?) and had to choose between Spain and Australia. We lived in Spain for about 3 years while we waited to get into the US legally. We did tons of sight seeing and visited many different churches and castles. I wish I would of been older to fully appreciate all the works of arts I have seen. Most of them are distant memories. Sometimes I wished my father had chosen Australia instead. That Aussie accent is great for meeting chicks. ;)

In February of 1973 we landed in Kennedy Airport. I grew up Union City NJ. That where I met my life partner. We both worked part-time at the local drug store. She was a cashier and I was a delivery/stock boy. We have been together for 24 years and have 2 boys ages 13 & 10. There are people in jail for murder that have been paroled for less time. But I do love her. :)

As of today 4/16/07 I'm in between jobs. To be perfectly honest I'm not bored at all. I'm keeping myself busy. I'm doing a lot of stuff around the house. I recently complete a video game I had been neglecting for months. If I could figure out a way to get paid while I surfed the internet and floated in the pool during the summer I would do it. My back-ground is mainly in Sales/Merchandising. Which is funny, because I really don't like people? But when they help pay the bills I love them. :D

I have no real interesting hobbies unless you consider alcohol and pornography a hobby. ;) But I do enjoy sports, video games, and computers. My favorite teams are the Devils, the Yankees and the Jets, some where along the way I went wrong with the Jets. Although the Devils are stinking it up lately. :hmm:

I also like to watch good movie and TV shows.
In case anyone cares some of my favorite movies include:
The Godfather I/II, Goodfellas, Raging Bull, Apocalypse Now, Casino, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Braveheart, Unforgiven,

I like the Fz7 I am a lower level Photo shooter becuase of that I feel the crew with the 3 grand cams make us a bit small at times, yet our vision in our photo's shine. I have bad spelling. You have all seen me from as far back as 1990's I did change my name once in 2000, I guess I'm the bottom of the barrel. But hey YOCK! it's a cool sport keep it up! I love a little 17mph wind like you! Took my kid out with an 6 foot span and took him off his feet!!! (smile) ! Wayne!!! you rock!

I passed my A+ certification, failed but was close on the Network + certification passed the serve safe certification.

I have three LANs in a Y config (see concept diagram above). The hub on the real network diagram allows me to see everything that is not protected by SSL/VPN right in the clear with out the need to learn how to arp poison the network(s). I subscribe to the concept of "Old School Nouveau," or at least that's what I call it. I know I didn't invent the state-of-mind, but maybe I can claim authority to the term itself. What the heck is it? It's the odd juxtaposition of the new and the old into one eclectic collection of personality traits. Chivalry isn't dead, pop music sucks, but yet my wine bottle opener has almost as many gears as my car's transmission. I think I'm somewhat particular in my tastes, but I suppose it's equally as likely that I'm schizophrenic.

As was mentioned earlier, I fly kites. Specifically, 2-line sport kites. It's an interest I picked while vacationing in North Carolina's Outer Banks. Unfortunately, I became very spoiled out there and have been pretty disappointed with the Ohio weather since my return. Really though, if there was one interest I could mention that defines me it would be music. I started playing piano at 5 years old and now at 26 I'm starting yet another new venture; the guitar. I'm a perpetual student and music is my passion.

With all of that said, and if I still have your attention, it's never possible to disclose everything about One's self in a few paragraphs, nor would it be fun to do so. I believe we can learn more about each other by observing and studying each others' art than by reading our however-interesting biographies. So here's to all of you and the art you share every day, and to the hope that you learn as much from me as I do from all of you.

It is truly not a favorites contest there are so many people who visit on an irregular basis or who do not post often and because of that and the length of this thread they maybe inadvertently over looked or assumed to have been tagged which causes the tagging to be not all inclusive.

Most who are tagged are frequent posters or have been in the forum for a long time and their Nome DE plume is a common item and are the first ones that come to mind but that is only normal for any group of people. It may look like the reason is favoritism but it's really not so.

You know the names of close friends but have to think to recall people you don't see often but still know and the same is true here.

I had the opportunity to live in some pretty cool places, my favorites being Monterey, CA and Harrogate, England. Between Monterey and Harrogate I was temporarily assigned to San Angelo, TX. As God would have it I ran into kidpics See Profile and we've been together ever since (15 years). :)

After leaving the Corps in 1995 I worked at a few places before starting with one of the "major" oil companies in Houston. I've been there for about ten years now, going from back-office IT engineering to now infrastructure project management (although I'm still a techie at heart -- pushing paper kills me). My expertise is security and cross-platform integration (Unix/Linux/Windows mostly).

As kidpics See Profile said, we have four great children. I love them all more than I could ever have imagined, though they tell me I act like a Marine drill sergeant. lol Tough love I guess...

God has blessed me in so many ways, I can't even begin to count them.

I know a bit of computer programing, and will write some odd and small program from time to time. I also love anime, and I'd rate Fullmetal Alchemist as one of my favorite. In general, I'm what you'd label as a nerd.

Well, my name is Joe, and pictured with me is Roxy, our Boxer that passed away this past September. I'm 31 and a father of two girls, ages 4 and 8 (who are featured in this weeks »[Retouch] Artify #123), with my girlfriend of over 9 years, and we've recenty adopted two new Boxers, Reggie (9 mos.) and Beauty (2 1/2 yrs.). I work as a baker, and have been employed with the same company for almost 14 years. I live in Gloucester Twp., Camden County, NJ, which is a 20 minute straight run down the highway from Philadelphia in one direction, and a 45 minute run to Atlantic City in the other.

My interests are many, so I don't devote endless hours to any particular one. Tops among them are being the computer whiz amongst family, friends, and co-workers (not great, but better than them), military tech (mostly aviation), and reading (Tom Clancy, Stephen Coonts, Dean Koontz, and Star Wars novels top that list). I'm also a bit of a fire buff, having three uncles that are/were career fire fighters in the Camden Fire Department. In high school through my early 20's I played bass, but have gotten away from it over the years, though I still mess around every now and then. I'm not a big sports fan, but I LOVE hockey.

I'm sure I left some stuff out, but anyone here that knows me a little can tell you that I sometimes get carried away and post on and on and on. Next up I tag reub2000 See Profile.
