A couple of Notes: Some AVs have both freeware and commercial versions, some have suites. These are not broken out separately, please vote for the AV brand you use and then post which specific version that you use and why If you use an AV that is not listed above, please tell us about it.

Also, there are planned polls to come for Firewalls, Anti-Trojans, and Anti-Spyware after this one. Please be patient and wait for those to follow later

Well done, mers2 See Profile. I've been using NOD32 for some time because it runs smoothly on my WinME machine.

Nice poll!

I use AntiVir Personal Edition Classic. I've only been using it for a few weeks. So far, I really like it. It has the best GUI and default settings of any AV I have used. And it goes without saying that aVira catches a lot viruses! I love its simplicity and the fact that it has no email scanner, no firewall, no HIPS, no HTTP scanner. It is wonderful to find a real AV and not a suite full of stuff I don't need. So far, I have had no problems with it except for some puzzling FP's.

McAfee, NOD32, and Norton here. I'm using all three and would feel fine about completely switching to any of them.

I use McAfee on our many household computers because Comcast provides it for free. They recently changed versions to a fairly robust version 7.1 which addressed all my complaints from the earlier version. I will probably have to revisit this at least on my own computer, which I plan to be running Vista on in the near future.

what kind of memory usage does NOD32 have? I'm on Avast now and I would consider it. AVG is junk. The current majority is wrong on this one.

I voted for AntiVir/Avira (paid, currently in use) and NOD32 (also paid).

Nicely executed poll.

Excellent job, Mary!

AVG free for same reasons mentioned above (lighter on resources) on notebooks & open TD blades..and McAfee v10 (I refuse to update to the v11 crud) on my primary machine

Looking forward to the new [polls] - they are a wonderful forum resource

We have used AVG (the free one) since '98 or '99. It has served us well and kept us clean. I always tell my husband....

"Don't fix what ain't broken."

Probably the only time he has ever paid attention to what I said.
