I frequently misspell those guys...
Thanks man! So now I have Bell, Magma and Teksavvy to choose from if Ted doesn't stay off my back.

I dont think there is any other cable internet providers in my area other then rogers. I'm in Craig Henry in Ottawa near Algonquin and apparently it's old lines here or something because there's no good DSL services, only the shitty lite is avaiable.

Only Rogers in all of urban Ottawa and many parts of rural Ottawa, so you have no choice. The problem with Craig Henry area is that it's an older exchange.

Here sbrook, close:

"5 percent of users (the hogs) generate 45.3 percent of traffic, whereas at the other end of the usage bell curve, those the company calls "barely users" represent a full 40 percent of users but generate only 3.8 percent of traffic."

40% of users generate sweet frick all of BW. I have always doubted us "top 1%" stats causing all the problems... There's lots left over and this "bw hogs" statement has been a *convenient* excuse by ISP's...

The numbers I quoted are certainly consistent with that.

You're looking at this back ass halfwards pulp ...
I do that a lot sbrook, but it looks like even the big boys had their head up their asses. Look what just came off the wire:

"Comcast CEO: 'Plenty Of Capacity' For Next 6-12 Months In discussing the company's financial state last week, Comcast CEO Brian Roberts brushed aside talk of a capacity crunch....

»Comcast CEO: 'Plenty Of Capacity' For Next 6-12 Months

There's lots of BW, been reading a lot about the big players finally admitting it's there. Ted chooses to limit it to keep his phreaking crappy phones as number 1 priority. Also, instead of spending millions on throttling we can bypass via ANY VPN service, keep the money for more future BW already Ted!

Just a heads up.

An article about SecureIX made it to the DIGG homepage.

Brace yourselves.

The capacity crunch is out on the tier 1s and tier 2s at the moment. They're reluctant to light more fibre which would bring the price down. They want to keep it up there for now to look after their investments. They don't want to light it up then have the lawyers come in and start swinging the DMCA at them as carriers. Common carrier should protect them in the US, but the DMCA was so broad sweeping, they're taking it conservatively.

Im getting 300kb/s , better then what I would be getting with DSL. My area only gets 185 kb/s without alot of noise and disconnects.

I'm trying to set up the proxy info in Bitlord. What type of proxy is SecureIX? Socks or HTTP? Im guessing HTTP, eh, since it works on port 80 and 8000 but still, maybe Socks works those ports too?

Enough's enough

The answers on how to use the Secureix vpn are here and on www.secureix.com site. We know that Rogers has messed up torrents again so we don't need that info repeated and repeated.

This topic has more than run its course and has more than enough pages to read!

Got *new* solutions? Please create a new thread.

Please let's not continue to rehash the same info again and again and again.

Thank you.
