:And so, as I understand it, in order to keep your interest, you'd rather trust Verizon/Cingular/Not Apple to have the power to decide for you who should repair your iPhone, or start digging around in your iPhone in their own "repair center", instead of an Apple-certified repair location?
Rather not. Had that been the case instead of as you describe it, I would have lost all interest.
I was once a cellular carrier service tech and we were better qualified that most of the manufacturers repair centers. We took pride in the fact that our customers needed their phones to be in top working order and had my a** reamed by customers if we didn't do the job right. We care more for the customer than for the dollar. So as for apple to state that they wanted the right to decide was not a fair decision. How many people can afford to keep replacing phones at the prices they charge if your contract is not up or your 2 yr wait is not over? I know I couldn't.
