Re: Unlimited...

Making any limitations clear seems fair to me, too. Believe it or not, a lot of people who are hogging bandwidth have no idea they're doing it. They either don't understand the internet at all or don't know that their file sharing programs are also uploading material from them. As far as I'm concerned, a netequalizer type solution might not be a bad idea on a larger scale. Let people know that their music/movie/tvshow downloads will receive lower priority when the network is congested. In many cases, this will bring the issue to their attention for the first time and probably motivate them to be more conscious.

I pay for Speed and 24/7 Access. I get both!
I am not paying for terabytes of data transfers.
That would cost a hell of alot more than $52.95 per month!

Everything here works "As Advertised". Connection is always up, always fast when I need it, and I always have access to it.

THAT is Unlimited Access.
Stop ranting BS!!!! Most Comcast customers DO NOT receive speeds "As Advertised" i was formerly a happy adelphia hsi customer receiving over advertised 6/768 @ 6/840 and it was always as advertised... then came Comcast. It has been a horror show since they showed up. My speeds are between 1/640 - 3/640 not even near near advertised let alone what i was getting just a day before Comcast took over. So stop advertising your crappy comcast connection when most of the people who have/had comcast know its a crap/ripoff service .... (About the only time you'll receive good speed are like 1:00am - 10:00pm when everyone sleeping)and upload speed is always crap @640-740 kbps .... and on top of all this is there monthly cap -_-

Probably both are as idiotic as the other, as are those who continue to think they mean anything.

Glad to hear yours is going well and your provider knows what they are doing (as mine does).

How are your severs running on your cable connection, by the way?

Funny though, that my DSL continues chugging along at 6016/768 24/7 without worry about clogged nodes, cable apologists, or the threat of a nastygram due to actual use of the service. I'll start believing people like fiberguy See Profile when the cable company he works for removes server prohibitions from their TOS/AUP.

I guess those "cable hog" commercials were right afterall...
Funny though, that my Cable connection continues chugging along at 9500+/950+ 24/7 without worry of distance limitations, slow speeds, or latency issues.

I guess those rabbit versus turtle commercials were right after all...

Moron do you know what he could be transferring at all? It's idiots like you who jump to conclusions and create this hype bubble. Hell I probably use the same amount of bandwidth on simply downloading ISO's for my clients, damn updates or packages from respiratories. Hell I can't afford having tons of drives or CD's because then the crap is outdated a week later and I must re download burn and then transfer.

It's easier for me to simply download it to every machine.
Sounds like you should be using a BUSINESS acount then.
Business account has NOTHING to do with this. Stop spreading the corporate BS, please.

Then you should get a pay for a BUSINESS service and not a residential one.
Maybe you should too? If you get one email about business, or one phone call through your VOIP phone from your job (if you have one), or have to do ANY business related surfing from home, then you should get a business account.

In fact, if anyone from work calls your POTS line, you should call your telephone company and demand you get a business account.

Now, if you would like to re-enter the world of reality, we are all here waiting for you.
Your points are not responsive to the main issue. You are RUNNING a BUSINESS thru your home internet connection. All the points you raise don't address that. Instead they go off on a tangent that has nothing to do with what you are doing.

sounds like whenever someones asked "why are you downloading so much" the automatic response is: updates/backups/college finals papers and excell spreads...lol

which sounds funny, pirate!

Not saying anythings wrong with that, but grow some ****'s why dont ya!
Sheesh, you do realize not everyone uses their PC to jerk off to right?

If I performed all the backups that I am supposed to, I could easily burn through 200 GB in a month. I run a very small hosting service that I administer remotely. I try to backup everyones site once a week (I also give them an option to do it themselves daily). If I had my own datacenter, I would do it daily. When I download the backups, it is about 25 GB's each time.

My Xbox 360 alone downloads about 25 GB a month. Each movie downloaded in HD (from Xbox Live) is about 4.7 GB and many of the game demo's are between 1 and 2 GB. This doesn't even take into account all the bandwidth used during online game play.

Take into account all the other downloading involved in just general surfing, and web development, 200 GB's is easily attainable for myself without even seeing one money shot.

So basically your assumption that anyone using as much bandwidth as I and others do makes them pirates is not only stupid, it is not backed up by anything other than your unsatisfied libido.

Re: Unlimited... Canada is a joke!

Up in Canada our balls are capped and speed throttled. As well they'll speed throttle your bank account if you go over those rinky dinky 30 gigabytes a month caps.

the truth is most people don't care as they are not affected by this..
Then there is no downside to specifying, in the advertising, in a typeface you don't need a magnifying glass to read:

"Use of the service is subject to data transfer limits and if you exceed those limits your access will be curtailed or terminated without notice."

I mean, if nobody cares and they won't be affected, why not come clean up front?

comcast employee continued....

Comcast will never clearly state anything because if they do that they can't compete LOL they can't justify getting signed up for 33 a month no installation fee (bullshit they sneak it in hoping you won't notice) then they tell you 33.00 a month but forget to remind you that is for 6 months even though ad says 1 year, then it goes up to 49.99 a month of course then all you have to do is say, I saw a verizon special better or something then you get 33.00 again for 6 months

And this is from a Comcast Employee

Subject: comcast employee
Message:
hello,

I, according to comcast, am still an employee on administrative leave with pay, we with an IQ above 10 know this means till we can print your final check.

You have probably seen I have responded to some of the idiots that have attacked you. They really do brainwash the empployees but the most important thing, is they intimidate them. Those employees who are defending comcast to you in a public forum could get fired just for defending them if you can believe that LOL!

I was fired because i believe customers complaints to much. Comcast motto (this is an undeclared motto it is a motto only taught to employees) Customer is always lying and trying to get something for free. When in fact it is actually Comcast that is trying to get money for nothing. when a persons service has not been working properly, we don't offer a credit unless they ask! Comcast has no problem taking your money, if you are willing to pay it, even when service doesn't work.

Here is a story that will make you laugh your as off. Dec 14th we had one of the worst wind and rain storms ever in washington sate seattle area. over 1,000,000 people without power, cable, and phone. we were not allowed to go fix cable lines until power put theres up first. we sent out a press release saying all installs and disconnects were put on hold until every comcast customer was restored. So a lady calls in and says, my cable and power is down a tree fell on my roof and knockedthe cables down. we told her we could not come fix her cable line till her power lines were fixed. she understood. well she was unaware and the comcast employee did not tell her she was over due on her bill. well when an account hits 82 days past due you are interupted in service. if it goes 92 days you are diconnected from the pole. well on the 16th r 17th of dec she became 92 days. and all those techs that were supposed to be restoring services, one of them didn't get the memo the sent a tech out to disconnect her even though she had no service any way and still no electricity. alot of people were without both for 2 weeks. so he went out the lady saw him climbing the pole and said, you should stay away from there they haven't fixed my power yet. the guy told the lady to mind her business he is going to shut her cable off as he was ordered to. He hooked or bumped something caused a power surge to go into the ladys house it blew up her microwave, and caught her refridgerator on fire and he got zapped! All over comcast greed. If they had been doing what they told the press they were doing restoring outages with every available man this would not have happened.

so anyway, I am not sure what the band limit is but I also know that their "unlimited Long Distance" is not unlimited either. I work in collections and we were calling people all the time telling them to lower usage or we would have to charge them business rates? It just doesn't make sense. If they cal another country if they get say 150.00 in long distance say in a 2 week period they shut them off till they pay it b4 they turn long distance back on. no matter how long customer is with us.
