Re: torrent vs newsgroup speeds [compare] Definitly bytes and not bits. My bps, according to Speakeasy, is about 4200/680. I think the usenet provider makes a big difference. Some are speed-capped; Easynews is not. They claim that they can max out a 10Mbps connection! |

| reply to MrDisco17 said by MrDisco17:(though its going to hurt giving up my email address :| ) There's an old Chinese (?) proverb that goes something like this: Q: When's the best time to plant a tree? A: 20 years ago Q: When's the second best time to plant a tree? A: Today
The same applies to email addresses. A long time ago I was wanting to leave an ISP and feeling the same pain as you about losing my email addy. So I setup my own email server and have never had such a dilemma again.
For most people that's probably not practical, so the second best thing is to get a gmail email addy. You can retrieve your email via POP if you like (i.e. using Outlook [Express], Thunderbird, whatever) or via the web. That way you'll never be in that don't-want-lose-my-email-address dilemma again.
So back to the proverb - get yourself a gmail email addy ... today?! |
