| As blunt as possible... These @$$holes are trying like hell to turn this into a "pay per view" scenario. They would love it if they could charge folks to watch something they pay to see already with their cable TV plan. I just don't understand how these companies like Viacom can think the percentage of non cable subscribers watching this stuff is high enough to mean people are stealing. Say we put a percentage on the numbers we have now. Out of the so-called "1.2 billion video streams" being used by these 100,000 videos, I'd bet only 5% don't subscribe to cable TV/Satellite/Channel the clip aired on. My point is this, how do they expect the public to react when they are trying to double dip their customers for money? I really wish the government would cave in on this one. The television shows they are probably most concerned about are just prime time content, which now-a-days, nobody can be home to watch, because in modern America, people are still at work, and want to watch these shows from work. They should be glad someone took the time to record it, and convert it into a web friendly version. This saves them money, and gives free publicity.
HEY TV EXEC'S, HERE'S AN IDEA! Make your own site, and clips/show downloads, and allow anyone to subscribe for a fee. Then sue the people who are now illegally distributing your digital content. -- SIPPhone/Gizmo # 17476200648 / PIMPNET Chatline / Ran by Asterisk & Slackware 10.1. |
