| [Firmware] WRT54GL-EU
Hi people. I've got here a WRT54GL-EU (1.1), and have flashed it with Tomato. I can connect to the router from the PC using the web interface on 192.168.1.1. I've set the router into wireless client mode, and I can browse the list of available access points. I've chosen the access point I want, and the router connects to it fine, as far as I can tell. The problem I have is that trying to get out to the net from the PC always fails; it's as if the LAN side (br0?) isn't talking across to the wireless side (eth1?) of the router.
So what obvious and stupid configuration setting have I most likely missed?
Thx in advance for any suggestions! bb |

1 edit | Did you enter the first DNS server as the Access Point you are connecting to,and add the DNS servers for the ISP to the 2nd and 3rd DNS server? -- I'm just a Material Handling Tech.If it's too heavy, get a Forklift. |

| I appreciate the screen shot, but now I'm confused!
You have WAN 'Disabled', but when I try that I get a message about "must have valid WAN setting for Wireless Client mode (usually DHCP)".
Also, I don't have the AP's IP address; I'm trying to connect to a 'public service' AP situated on the top of a nearby building which gives access to a pipe sponsored by the local council.
It is a shame that there are no docs, or at least a set of HowTo pages for Tomato for those of us who are new to network config issues I naively thought it would just be a case of enabling wireless, set client mode, and tell it which AP to connect to - it's looking as though there's rather more to it than that.
All constructive thoughts and suggestions welcome.
Regards, bb |

Sorry to follow-up my own post, but attached is the closest I could get to your config. Suffice to say it still isn't working |

Those are internal addresses like any 192.168 addresses, surely. The USB adapter is ...2.1 and it has given me ...2.2. I don't see how that relates to the AP across the street. |

| 192.168.2.1 is the private LAN IP address of the Router/AP you are connecting to. It assigned you an IP address from it's DHCP servers pool of IP addresses. In the last screen shot I posted,I assigned the LAN IP of the WRT54G a Static IP address of 192.168.2.254(hopefully outside the range of the AP's DHCP pool). -- I'm just a Material Handling Tech.If it's too heavy, get a Forklift. |
