Map of the internet

Anyone got idea what the map of the internet looks like, I mean whats this pipe line.

I'm connected to my isp and isp is connected to what? I dont know theres a map of this pipe line and what if this pipe line breaks somewhere are our connections route to another pipe line.

On a more serious note, this site might give you a general idea. The internet is consisted of what is known as a mesh network. As you probably know, this means that if one route is destroyed, another can take its place seamlessly.

Well... it will take the place seamlessly as long as your ISP has backup routes. There are many (especially smaller ones) that have only 1 upstream provider.
