Keith Urban (The country singer) is suing Keith Urban (The Painter) over his domain name. Saying that He is using his name to mislead people and to make money off of his name. Also he is suing that his name is trademarked and that the other Urban is cybersquatting on his name. Last time I checked (but I am not a lawyer) A persons name is their name so they can use it. He registered the domain in 1999 before new Urban was even remotely famous. What do you guys think about this? |

kudos:2 | From visiting the site, keithurban.com, it's pretty obvious that the owner is banking on "mistaken identity" traffic...
That said, not sure if it's enough for a ruling...will be interesting to see how it plays out |

Either way, if its the guys name and if he had it registered as early as 99, then its his and Keith the country singer might be better off negotiating some kind of deal to buy the domain or buy a space on the front page linking to his own official site.

The painter doesn't seem to be doing anything on the site that claims he is the singer, nor making any claims to anything related. A quick visit to the gallery doesn't even show pictures of singing!
So I fail to see the problem. The painter does show AdWords on his site, and if those happen to advertise things about the singer, there's not much the painter can do about that.
It's his name and he registered it before the singer was famous, so tough Kidman boobies to the singer.
