 | Tough choice Let's see... I have $20. I can either drive to the nearest store (or browse an online shop) and buy the movie on DVD or I can buy the movie from Walmart's movie download service.
With the DVD I can watch it on my PC, my DVD player, or my in-laws' DVD player. I can loan it to a friend. I can also watch the extras after I'm done with the movie itself.
With Walmart's download service, I can only watch it on my computer. I'm allowed to back it up 3 times, but not to a format that will play on my DVD player. I can't lend it to my friend or watch it in another room/house unless I have it on a laptop. (And lending a laptop to your friend so they can watch a movie is overkill.) I also don't get to watch any extras.
No thanks, I'll stick with DVDs.
Oh, and is anyone else having problems browsing »mediadownloads.walmart.com/ with FireFox? It looks fine in IE, but FireFox renders the page as an unstyled mess. | | birdfeedrPremium,MVM join:2001-08-11 Warwick, RI kudos:5 | said by Jason Levine:Let's see... I have $20. I did not RTFA, it's pointless. The DSLR abstract does say $20, but when I go to the Walmart site, it looks like the highest price is $14.88, with some cheaper.
DSLR abstract also says "it will only work on XP & Vista with IE." If that's the case, the scrambled styling for non-IE browsers is a pre-screening for compatibility. Ya think?
If you can't see it, how can you order it? It will help cut down on returns "because it doesn't work on my computer". | | |

Actually, the article says that new movies will cost up to $19.88 but that older films will cost up to $9.88.

I somehow missed that line in the abstract (and it wasn't in the article). I guess, as a web developer, I just assume that it's standard practice to make your website viewable in most browsers (or provide a page explaining why it isn't). Silly me.
