2 edits | I got this pic from a friend of mine that just installed a 2 meter band RPT at this site, 2800ft or so over sea level in Puerto Rico. To the left you can see a sector and a canopy radio(I think).
Gino, is that one yours? |

| Brief comment...not to be whining, of course.
Do not use 5 gallon plastic buckets for this kind of work. The handles break off the bucket and they fall to the ground.
Use this:
Pretty cheap and designed for the task, much in the same way a fall protection harness is "task designed".
You don't tie a rope around your waist, do you??

Thanks for the pics, BTW.

| reply to Inssomniak Yeah I should have sent better pictures of the buckets. They were modified. If you notice the blue one it has a band of metal running down the sides. The support is not the "handle". It's the basket that holds the bucket.
The Klein buckets are preferred. We had to rig something in a pinch.

| Came across this one while loking for suitable pictures to post. Story behind picture - DSL Agregatting router craps out at a remote POP. Replacement router has some firmware issues with having an OC3 and 8xDS1's in the same chassis and was randomly dropping the IMA circuit to the remote DSLAM requiring the router to be power cycled. I wrote a dirty little script to begin playing 'Invoke the Suffering' by Bloodgasm when the router locked up. I didn't get much sleep those couple days.
I can laugh about it now... |

|
Rhaas Premium join:2005-12-19 Bernie, MO | Falcon Communications - They normally go for $1k - $1.5k, but I got one that was stripped - no fans or heater and no 110v, so I got it cheaper. |

| Yep, Just off the top of my head some of the things I remember:
Tower is rohn25 at 300' Top 20' is not guyed Beacon is wire tied to the top Tower is severely overloaded Several guy wires have been 'winged' by bullets kinking them Last time someone replaced the beacon they had to tension the guy wires because they were concerned about stability with them up there. Lots of abandoned cables and antennas |

AMD Phreak Premium join:2003-12-14 | 300 of 25????? WOW..... and to top it off the top 20 is not guyed? Who the heck thought of doing that? Do you have any idea how wobbly 25 is at 100'? I can only imagine how bad it is at 300.... |
